How to use Damiana for Anxiety, Creativity, Connection and Libido
A blissful and versatile herb, Damiana is one of the most popular herbs due to it’s immediate relaxing, gentle, sense enhancing effects.
Damiana is one of the best herbs for the mood, the nervous system and the reproductive system! It has a calming, euphoric effect and is a gentle and effective aphrodisiac.
It is extremely relaxing, producing almost immediate feelings of well-being. In it’s native home of Mexico, Damiana was traditionally used as a tonic for worn out nerves and depression. Damiana is a such a beautiful and effective herb, whether smoked, taken as a tincture, or brewed into a tea.
Damiana is also one of the best herbs for women’s health, especially for those that experience cramps, irritability, and mood drops around their periods. It can melt frigidity, increase intimacy, and heighten the enjoyment of sex. It is reputed to increase desire and sensation in both sexes.
It has also been know to increase the lucidity of dreams, and often causes erotic dreaming.
Whenever I use Damiana, most often smoked or in a tea, I find myself in a more open and relaxed state of mind. It’s simply one of my favorite herbs to gearing my body and mind to the happy, peaceful state I would like to spend more time in. I can’t think of a single herb I use more!

~Damiana Recipes~
Damiana Tea: Steep 2g of Damiana in boiling water for 5-10 minutes. Add honey and enjoy warm.
Smoking Damiana: Damiana can be smoked in a pipe, with rolling papers, or in a vaporizer. It imparts a relaxing, subtle high that lasts for about a 1/2 hour. Damiana is gentle and euphoric, those that experience paranoia or other side effects from smoking cannabis will love this herbal alternative. Try adding Blue Lotus, Wild Dagga, Dream Herb, Lavender, Mugwort, Catnip for added effects.
Damiana Wine: Steep 10g of Damiana in a large mason jar of wine for 1-2 weeks, shaking daily if possible. If you’d like you can add other herbs for flavor like Rose, Lotus, Cinnamon, Chocolate and/or Orange. Strain through a sieve to remove the herb, pressing to remove as much liquid as possible. Stir in honey and other flavorings if desired. This recipe can also be done with Vodka, Brandy, Gin or Rum for a gorgeous herbal liqueur. I use Damiana in my Bliss tincture with Lotus, Cacao, Kanna and Woodrose for a Euphoric, Stimulating herbal alternative for celebrations, dancing, festivals and solo journeys. Check out Bliss here!
I like to use a teaspoon of Damiana tinctures in my cocktails for a really blissful twist.
